Hello everyone. My name is Chuck and I am a modeler who lives currently in Bremerton, WA. So, who am I??? The jury is still out on that one.
I have been a modeler most of my life. I had a few Great Uncles who flew planes in WW2 who got me hooked on them when I was little. The first model I remember is a 1/48 Monogram TBD Devestator that my Grandfather and I built. There were more earlier, that is just the first one I remember. I cannot begin to count all of the models that I have built and destroyed over the years when I was younger, before I started to learned to really put in the time and make them look good, then display them somewhere (usually in my room on a shelf or hanging from my ceiling.) I have had the luck to have a few of my dioramas go into museums over the years. I kind of got out of modeling for awhile due to a few contributing factors, but I did still collect some that I wanted to build for either static display or dioramas. Now I have them and a place to begin working on them, so I am going to start the builds. I even have an older Badger sprayer and compressor that I am going to set up and use.
My interests include (but are not limited to) WW2 aviation, armor and a few ships. I build mostly 1/72 in aircraft, but mostly because of the size allowing me to do a lot in a smaller space and there being more possibilities in that scale as far as dioramas. I do have a few 1/48 and even less 1/32 and 1/35, but I prefer the smaller scale as it allows more possibilities at this time for choices in possible dioramas. Finally, though, there are more choices coming available in 1/48 with the different vehicles and figures being more varied. I also like the Sci fi world of modeling, from Star Wars/Star Trek to Serenity to Aliens to whatever catches my eye.
I guess that is it for now. I am glad to be an addition to this site and look forward to meeting everyone.
