DY-100 Class, SS Mayflower
Permalink

From Star Trek.  A DY-100 class vessel, the SS Mayflower.  A joint effort of NASA, JPL, and Microsoft.  The latter company being responsible for the guidance system computers.

Modeling is complete but needs some additional texturing in a few places and re-texturing on the nose cone.

And a few more angles...

And finally a 4 view (see link for hi-rez image below)...

Was the Mayflower used in a Book or Show?  I am somewhat up on all the shows, but not the books.

I used to read the books back when TOS era stories we're available.  And still have a box full of them in the attic but the only mention of a DY-100 was during a Time Travel storie with Kirk, Kelso, and Gary Mitchell.  Anyway to answer your question:  Not to my knowledge, just seemed like a good name for an early space ship sent out to colonize another world.  Although I'm not sure you can prove it but I actually stole the name from somewhere... just can't seem to remember where.

Another gorgeous rendering. I've always liked this design. The DY-100 class was a simple but very pleasant design, and actually very believable as a design of a ship built and launched in the late 1900's/early 2000's. Is there a decent kit of this ship in a reasonable scale (1/1000 or larger)? I'd love to build one, but my scratchbuilding skills (at least for ships) is very limited.

Here is where I bought my model 1/1000 scale, from Beeblebrox.

I found from a web search this plan of the DY-100.

I like the Comparisons it has with the Other ships.  Gives you an idea of Size.

You seem to have a knack for finding images I've never seen.  Although I can't say I'm too jazzed about their (?) ideas on the internal arrangement.

Any ship that is not seen on the inside, I guess anyone can do what they feel it should be. I don,t care for it, also.
