More TNS RTF Image Analysis - Jupiter 2?!?

So, was going thru my Season One DVD set looking for images of ships in the RTF and what should I find but a ship that looks like a slightly scaled down version of a Blockade Runner from Star Wars (only has 8 engines instead of 11) and....

The Jupiter 2 from "Lost In Space"!

Whattaya think?

Have you heard if they are doing that on Purpose?  I think it is cool though, I will have to do stills now to see what I can find.

No, it's completely by accident that they put the TOS 1701, Jupiter2, etc... in there.

Sorry, it's just such an inane question that I had to be a smart-aleck.

Yes, of course, they're placed there on purposes, Thom.  As I said in the other thread about the 1701 showing up in the RTF, the guys doing most of the work for Zoic Studios - and any other graphics studios that they farm out to or individuals they hire for temp work - are almost always fans of the genre.  They put this stuff in there 'cause they get a kick out of us sad, pathetic folk sitting at home finding it and getting all excited about it.

Hey, we all gotta have something to live for, eh...?

Yes, it is common for these in-jokes to show up. Makes you wonder, what other movies and TV shows, have stuff in them. Ok, Jeffery! It is your new mission to explore other DVDs. If you deside to except this mission, and you are caught or killed, we will blame it on ....... , never mind.

Heh...  Sorta like the potato and tennis shoe that's in the asteroid belt in "The Empire Strikes Back"?   And you want me to find more stuff like that...?

No.  Ain't no way I'm going thru all those other movies out there.  I'm not getting enough modeling done at home as it is.

What I wouldn't mind knowing is if they are using any of the old models they had on the original show.  I know they do have some of the same designs, but are they the same model?

Uh...  I don't know how to put this exactly....

They're not using physical models for TNS, dude.  They never have.  Those are all CGI models.  Everything you see of their space craft when they're "out in space" and/or flying is CGI.

CGI is good, but a model is better. I am guessing that they use some to TOS ship designs, just for the old fans.
