Inexpensive Clear Hemispheres

I was milling about Hobby Lobby today and found something interesting and fairly inexpensive.  In their xmas stuff they've got clear plastic ornaments that basically are balls that split in half.  They're clear and look pretty nice and are fairly cheap too... I was thinking about scratch building an enterprise (yea right crazy thought), but It didn't seem like I'd find warp nacell fronts very easily, but there were a couple of sizes, of course you'd have to scale based on the hemispheres, but I thought I'd mention it here because you folks are fairly crafty and might find this info useful for other applications.  You'd need to saw off the hanging loops, but it looked doable.

Thanks for the info.

I will have to check them out. Christmas is the best time to get such items, and also LEDs, and fibre optics. Buy some cheap trees and strip out the fibre optics.

I found several sizes of those same puppies in Michaels Crafts. I'm using them for terrain features for Warhammer 40K. Thay make real cool bunker looking structures.

I got some of those Domes from Doc a while back.  Have always wanted to make a Enterprise.  But I mean at least 6 foot long.  So he gave me some domes that would work perfect.  Still have them around here somewhere.

As for those LED's, if you are talking about those little light up villages type lights, they look great except they are strung together to close.  Not sure what application you would use for those.  I did however picked up the Battery operated X-mas lights they use for wreaths and such.  They will come in handy in making light whatever’s.
