I was wandering around the web, saw the cabin and stopped in to get warm. I am "Dabbler" because I 'dabble' at building models, as I am retired, and don't have to do anything if I don't want to !!!
I prefer Universal Studios Monsters, and sometimes dinosaurs. I DO NOT do cars, spaceships, or dance, you can't make me ! ( But I do also 'dabble' with 6 & 12 string Country rhythm guitar)
I like women, beer, spicy foods, long naps, spending my wife's pension and my kids' inheritence on models. ( At my age, NOT necessarily in that order !?)
Any other information must be obtained via my attorney.
Welcome Dabbler! All the way from Polar Light forum! I bet that trip wore you out.
Glad you stopped by to warm up, always looking for more victims..uh visitors, that's it. Too much time alone. Bring all your monsters and dinosaurs into the woods. Look around, we have all kinds of modelers, enjoy yourself.

YUP, the trip made me a little weary, but a long nap took care of that. Right now, after I rebuild my energy, I am finishing the scratch-built "opera stage" base for my Horizon-Chaney Sr. Phantom of the Opera. I intend to build the "prompter's box" from old credit cards but could use ideas for the footlights. Any opera fans, I'd appreciate advise, just please DON'T sing !!

Welcome to the Group Dabbler. Be sure to add any comments on modeling you can, we are all interested on how others do there work and such.
I see we have some things in common. A dabble in Bass Guitar. Mostly Rock and some Blues & Jazz. Not that great at it, but probably better than a Beginner.

Not "great" at guitar either, but I please myself. I like "Hillbilly" music more than what passes for "country" these days. But do like some of the "Rockabilly" and 50's-60's slower stuff too. Don't mess with guitar a lot since I've got the model bug !!
I have a quote taped to my axe that says : "Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life" - ( Bertold Brecht ) *
I am a music lover. I like to listen where ever I am. One of the problems in life, is no background music. So I make up for that, with CDs. I notice the older I get, the more I like the old stuff. As a friend told me once, "You know you are getting old, when your favorite music is called classic."
I like to mainly go for soundtracks, from movies, and TV. As I write here, it's Star trek TOS eoisode from Shore Leave.
We have a local AM "nostalgia" station that I keep on for background that plays an eclectic variety of anything from 30's popular tunes to early rock & roll and doo wop. It's good accompaniment for model building without jangling the nerves, BUT if I'm making the music it's more Hank Williams (Sr. ) and such genre.
Learned a trick while researching repairs on my guitar saddle/bridge. A dab of super glue sprinkled with baking soda dries rock hard and can duplicate hard plastic or bone and is sandable/fileable to set the strings into. Could come in handy in modeling. ( See how I got that back on-topic ??!!)
I read about that trick, of using super glue and baking soda, instead of putty. I tried to use thick super glue, instead of putty, and you need a Dremel to grind it off. I will stick to putty. instead of sticking to super glue.
I am still young, or so they say. Age 47, mind 16, body junk yard. So my decade was the 60s. My mother used to tell me, that she could not understand, how we could call what we listed to music. I think the same way now! How can they call that stuff....music?
Well, Doc used to play drums, Doug plays Bass too so I hear. so we should put a Band together. A bunch of Modelers in a Band. we can call it "The Herd of Nerds"
