Since this topic http://www.hobbytalk.com/bbs1/showthread.php?t=129941 over at HobbyTalk seems to have fizzled out, I thought I would post my progress here too. It's a 50's style Batmobile not based on any particular one you've seen before. It's based on a 1951 Chevy Fleetline. I thought the rear fenders lended itself well to having two fins instead of the single fin traditional to that era. I altered the front end with a Shelby Cobra and will use the seats and dash from this to make the interior seem high tech for the time. If I decide to put a jet exhaust on the rear, the Shelby front end could easily represent an air intake.

Okay, what am I doing wrong? I uploaded a pic from my computer and it doesn't appear in that first post. Was it swallowed by a black hole? Did the Joker steal it? Am I getting senile?

Looks good! I like the double fin better than the single. To me, the single never looked right. I think the high tech approach is fitting, since Batman has all those wonderful toys.

Damn it Robin! The bats crapped on the windshield again!

Weird. Having an old car, with modern jet engines. But it does look good.

You're right about it looking weird. I'm thinking it's too much stuff and it starts to lose it's style. Like adding a bunch of greebles to the TOS Enterprise. Just wrong.

Fantastic.  Love that old type look.  Remind me if I am wrong, but was that the original Batman Car from the comics too?

That looks great. I grew up on the comic book and that really captures the original Batmobile.

I've looked this over: http://www.batmobilehistory.com/1944-batmobile.php  A lot of them were based on a similar body style to what I picked. Single finned til the 60's I think.
