i am building this model does any body have any tips or advice? its about the same amount of work as the comet minatures eagle kit it seems most work and time is cleaning up flash. instructions worthless except the measurements for the landing gear tubes. does enamel top coats dry faster than laquer or the other way should i use laquer top coat for resin kits over enamels. has anybody in this forum built this model? if so please give me your opinions and tip technics ect so far the kit is good just too much flash removal. it seems to be the only big eagle kit available to us poor modelers. note i have been looking for a large kit of the nostromo from alien for years and could only find the halcyon kit sold privately 3-4 hundred us dollars ouch. well fellow nostromo fans go to monsters in motion i found a big nostromo kit for 175.00 us +shippig i havnt got it yet in the mail but when i do i will give a summary out of box. hope its worth the $.
First of all, Kudos to you for taking on such a big model. I myself have not done that particular model, but there is a whole bunch that I, and the others in the group have done. So it should not be too hard to help you out. First thing is ask a specific question per entry, that way it will be easier for us to reply and help you along. I know there will be a few of us that will have different opinions, and that is good so you can come to your own conclusions on which you may think is better suited for you.
Ok, so, you want to know what kind of paints to use. I myself have fell in love with the Tamiya paints. They work well in an airbrush and it is easy clean up with water. You will probably want to do a white with the Eagle. There were a few of the support ships that were colored green in the show, but if I remember right, they were in only the first couple of episodes. You don’t want to use a pure white, but maybe an off white, or Egg shell. Do you intend give this a wash?

WOW- where to start!
The RU 23inch Eagle is off in so many ways....The best thing to do is is decide if you want to do the model to represent one of the shooting minatures or just a generic Eagle.
In general...
Clean and putty the model filling all the pin holes, spray primer, and repeat till smooth is a must .
I wouldn't mix paint types as I've had a few problems with paints that won't cure when applied over different paint types or different manufacturers, or worse paint that removes the paint underneth it.
The Eagle is white, with grey paneling in places. On the studio scale stuff I've built I use a bright flat white for the base, then mix in a drop of silver to 6-8 drops of the flat white for the greys. The silver gives the grey a depth that shows up in high light conditions.
After the paint and detail is done a simple spray of gloss coat then add the decals.
That is it in a nutshell
