I have made this model with a phone PVC pipe and asthma inhalers. So a good place is also the flea market...

I, too, keep an eye out for potential items for sci-fi model building and adornment.

I've got a few boxes of junk here in my office right now. I've found that totally gutting old electronic equipment (watch out for those capicitors!) makes for a rich source of items as well as the body pieces.
