I like the Intrepid class. Voyager is a cool looking ship.
You know, Until I got the Bandai Kits, I thought the Voyager was a much smaller than the Enterprise. But actually the Voyager is larger in size. Unless Bandai screwed up the scale.
Back in 1989/90 I built a one-to-one scratch built model based on the Ingram blueprints. While that was fun... it wasn't satisfying as what I really wanted was the Excelsior.
So I started collecting as much info on the model (this was pre Star Trek VI) as I could find. From all that information I started making a set of blue prints for the Excelsior.
I had finished with those plans by 1991 and had started on the model when Star Trek VI came out. It wasn't long before I had enough info to update those drawings to match the modifications to the Excelsior (though I didn't build those modifications into my Excelsior model as I was already pretty far along with it).
Well, I realized that my drawings were nice enough (and the Excelsior was notable enough) that they might be worth something... so I cleaned them up and made them into a 36"X24" one sheet (vellum) which I sold for about $700 to a comic book store that went to a lot of conventions. They sold prints of the one sheet for about $5 a piece (it cost them about $0.35 for each when printed in bulk).
Second, You are joining an ever growing group of Excelsior Fans. Something about that ship!
As for the Prints, I bought a blueprint set of different views of the ship and even some conversions with different Warp nacelles. Think you could post in another Thread and show some small pictures?
Episode 202 titled BATTLESTAR EXCELSIOR, is a cross between STNG and Galactia. It features the original Excelsior, and HF's, for all you Excelsior fans downloads

I would love to... but sadly everything I owned from before 1997 was lost. I've thought about searching for the one sheet, I'm sure that there are a few copies that still exist. Plus I might check out the comic book store I sold them to when I visit San Diego in a couple months.
I'm only just now getting back into building models again. Hopefully I'm still as good as I was (specially as one of my first projects looks to be helping out with Exeter).
Bill George did a great job designing the Excelsior. It was a nice balance between a familiar look and something new. Even in it's comic relief role in Star Trek III it was a beautiful ship.
Of the ships listed above, I chose the Excelsior. I like the somewhat nautical lines to it and appreciate its more practical, less stylistic construction.
