I am in total Awe.  They are superb.

Ok, The engineering looks fantastic, unless you are going to add more detail, that looks perfect.

As for the Deflector, I was thinking that maybe we could put maybe two on each side of the Torpedo tubes?  Like recessed in maybe?  How do you think of that?

And also be sure to add an Aft torpedo bay maybe recessed into the lower half of the saucer, or maybe on each side of the Impulse engines in the rear.

The other thing I was thinking of was maybe a shuttle bay somewhere.  I know that the Abbe class has it on top of the saucer section.  I think it is the Abbe.  Think that would look ok?  Or maybe under it?  Or if we recess the rear Torpedo tube(s), maybe on the sides of the Impulse Engine like the reliant class?

Speak to me Maurice!!

You are aware of course that I will have to build this once we have all the plans done.  I am also looking to Build your Cairo for you.  That way you have a Desk model to gaze at.  LOL

Just a note, did you notice that you have the engines leaning to the rear on the pylons, the original sketch I did has them leaning forward.

LOL, just noticed that.

You sir have a deal!  I'd love to see the Cairo with you superb painting skills.  A thousand times Thanks!!!

Glad you like them.  If you're happy with the shapes I'll just refine them with a little detail and proceed.

And I guess great minds think alike.  I was going to ask you about how the shuttles get aboard.  until tonight I was going to go for a bay on top of the saucer but after looking at the rear view with the pylons inplace I think the lower section would work best.  I also have been thinking about the deflector issue and the split idea is already making it's way through my brain.

ACK!!!  You are right.  That's why the nacelles in your drawing are so much farther forward!  How stupid of me.   Stand by...

Don't I feel like a schmoe?  I guess that's how wars are started.

For comparison...

Before.

After.

As it would not be that Hard, you think you could Slide the Gin Gins back a tad.  LOL

They look to far forward for some reason.

Agreed.  The saucer mount points can move back a little, will do that soon.  However I've got some other bits for you to look at.  Note:  I accidently added the changes to the rear leaning pylon file so I'll just redo the pylons on this one as it contains a number of changes.  So, let's begin...

OK, four things going on in this first image.  First we see Starfleet's "camo" program.  Instead of trying to hide the ship they just paint the underside so it looks like the top (in truth it's at present the same texture image).  Next we have the quick and dirty impulse outlets (accurate in neither size nor shape).

Rounding out three and four for this image there are the shuttlebay doors and the rear torp launcher.  A location I'm sure is going to wildly unpopular but it's just a test.

Here are two options for the location of the deflector equipment.  The saucer leaves precious little opportunity for anything larger without having to add some sort of housing to the superstructure.  All "dishes" are recessed.

And finally we see the reworked nacelles.  Lots of corrections here:  The grille cutouts extend farther back and have a more accurate shape, The "fins" at the rear have been tweaked (the vertical ones underneath have been completely remade), the forward "caps" have been reshaped, the list goes on but a picture is worth one thousand words so here it is.  Again, wrong direction on the pylons.

Ok, as for the first picture, maybe move the Torpedo launcher to two on each side of the Impulse engines.  As far as the Impulse drive is concerned, I know you will adjust that to the Normal when you can.

The Shuttle bay door doesn’t look half bad.  Of course there will have to be some kind of landing lights or insignia near it, otherwise it looks just like a regular cargo hatch.  Again, I know you will make the appropriate adjustments.  You will of course have to add a Phaser bank right above it so the ship has lower rear defenses.

Ok, on the third Picture, I like the idea of the Deflectors, but how about Blue, which I know you probably would have done anyways, And how about instead of round, maybe oblong?  If that is how to say, Not Oval, but a little stretched.  Damn, I wish I paid attention in geometry class.

Otherwise, I am so excited that My Nipples are hard!

Glad to hear the good new about those nipples

Rear launchers:  Yeah, got lazy on that one.  Something like that would almost be universally hated.  The rec area (and other windows) will likely need to be moved.

Shuttlebay doors:  Yes, lights and some sort of signage.  I was tempted to have a bit "1" painted on it but as it's the only one that seemed rather silly.  I was actually tempted to put the phaser bank below it.  Any higher and you wouldn't have a firing arc that when straight aftward.

Deflectors:  They don't turn blue until you really crank up the juice.  This was a low power test .  I actually tried a shape like that in the center to see how it looked but didn't really think it looker very good.  Although I'm not sure if that is because it was in the center or because of it's shape.  Anyway I'll work something up so you can see.  Here again we are probably looking at some more windows that get moved.  And if that shape has a name I don't know what it is either.

Question:  How do you feel about a structure of some sort on the underside of the saucer directly below the impulse crystal?  Something similar what's on the Reliant?  Nothing big just something that will partially mirror the shape of what you see topside.

Happy your Happy about the Nipples too.

As for the Shuttle bay, it could be Bays, maybe one next to each other.  So the center line would be in between them.  Then a 1 and a 2 could work.  Or if you want to mess with peoples minds, a 3 and a 4.  That way they will be looking for the 1 and 2.

Under the Warp Crystal sounds good,  But would an Mirror image may be to much.  But a Hatch so if the Wapr core was ejected, thats where it would go.  Sounds cool. Go for it.

It is looking better than all my Expectations.  Thanks!

Well I wasn't planing on duplicating what's on top  so mirroring was perhaps too strong of a word.  Just something of the general shape.  And in fact a hatch for ejecting the warp core was one of the reasons I thought something should go there.

Two bays, I had not considered that.  That would allow a phaser emitter to be located as the rest are.  I do think I'll go with one and two, can't go around confusing the cadets (or Lloyd).

Really glad you like it.  I do too.  And hey, it's fun!

Been meaning to ask you, what is that Blue thing on the underside?

Is that what you were talking about before?  Or maybe just a remnant of the Refit class?
