This my next ship. It is a 2 piece vacu-form model. I bought this many years ago, and don't even know where I got it. From the picture, you can see on the bottom, the landing legs. I have thought about it, and decided to have the legs down. I have some stairs to use on the legs, now just got to find them. Will post pictures as I go along.
You know, after I posted those pictures, I noticed a SNAFO with the Special effects of the landing. Not of course to nit pick since it was an Old Sci-Fi show and the Special effects were spectacular for that time.
But when the Ship lands, Only two landing legs drop down to hold the ship in place. then in the next scene when it is all powered down, the third leg appears. Just in case you didn't know.
The only information I could find, is that it is about 60 feet wide. I found in a book, a drawing of the landind legs, so that is a help. In the attic, I think I have a magazine all about the movie. But which box?
I have cut out on the model the landing gear/legs. Now to find a tube to use for the center support.
Well, if it is 60 feet wide, and your model is 6.5 inches, the closest I can determine is that your model is 1/110 scale. It could be a little higher or lower, but that is a close guesstimate.
Thanks, Tholian! So would 1/100 scale figures look good with it, or out of place? If things work out, I will build the model now, and maybe use it in a diorama later.
When I go see Serenity this weekend, I am going to get Forbidden Planet DVD. Then you will feel better about having me around.
Today I closed the center of the lower saucer, and puttied it. I also closed up the cap on the bottom of the center landing leg. Once I cleaned it up will post picture.
Well, I messed up. The closing of the bottom was wrong. I bought the DVD, and now I see up close what I need to do. Sure no one will see it but me, but I want to be happy with it. So no pictures for awhile.
