Ouch! Got me! Well I am installing some very choice lighting goodies in it! A "Pulsing" Photon Torpedo effect, lighted Disruptor Cannons, and a lighted Interior and Engine section. Should get interesting later next week.
Tommorrow I pick up my router table and scroll saw, and then my 1/350th DY-100 shall begin in earnest (spray booth to be completed by the time it's ready for paint).
Well I've been threatening to start the DY-100 since November. I think I even hinted at it way back when. Anywho...
The Tardis is still planned but we are doing some remodelling at the moment so that is on hold until I can manage to (at least) get the new batroom put in (which means finishing the removal of the old one).
It should be a fun time for sure. I'd really love to get the thing gutted by the end of January.
Now for the good news bad news part (in reverse order)...
I'm not going to do a1/350th DY-100 as my first subject. I will instead be doing a 1/8th Police Box. In addition I decided on a bandsaw instead of a scroll saw. Between that and my router table the Police Box should be a piece of cake (but not a shuttle cake).
Good choice on the bandsaw, instead of the scroll saw. For what you are building, it is better. I have a well stocked wood shop, but no heat, so have to wait till warmer weather.
I never thought about drilling out gun barrels on models for realism. Doing the windows with a Dremel, takes a steady hand, it don't take much to mess up. As always, I will keep checking back on the progress. I enjoy watching another of your models come together.
Thanks lloyd! I'll post updated pictures of more results on the Disruptor Cannons next week. The bigger set had the solid Barrels completely removed and Hollow substitutes reinserted. This enabled me to light them up with Fiber Optic strands. Should be a nice touch to the completed model's lighted details. Have a great New Years everyone! It's also our 14 th Wedding Anniversary!
Again, I am watching your Bird of Prey come together, and enjoying the lessons. The nice thing about this, is I am learning new ways to build models. I seem to pick the right time to get your updates, so I have not missed anything.
I post updates on current project regularly, about twice a week, sometimes three times. Usually on Sunday night or Monday. Then again on Wednesday or Thursday, but it isn't "clockwork" accurate as model building isn't that structured. Glad your enjoying the Klingon project, next week should get more interesting as we get into the lighted sections and proceed to exterior detailing. Thanks for your interest lloyd!
