Again, I am in Awe.  I can't tell you how much I like the way this ships came out in your render.  And as for the way WolfPak does his, don't put yourself down.  I wish I had a 10th of your talent to do such a thing.  My Sketches of star ships look like carvings on the walls of caves compared to your drawings.

This last picture gave me goose bumps, and let me tell you, that isn't a wonderful sight to see on a 40 year tattooed Biker looking guy.

As far as the Medical emergency, I hope all is well.  I will light a candle for you.

I'm glad you like it.  I do strive to make things as accurate looking as I can but it sure is nice to not to be under the scrutinty of the "<.0000001 micrometer accuracy" police.

Thanks for the thoughts they are much appreciated.  Still in the middle of it but all is well for now.  I might not get to the Viper this weekend though as I'll probably be at the hospital doing whatever I can do.

Again, I will light a candle for you Brother.!

Ok, You know I may have to ask you to do another one of my ships after this one is done.  Or maybe all of them eventually.  LOL

The last picture is great, but the deflectors came up missing.  Where'd ya put em?

And BTW, I try to incorporate something about a name and number to all my Ship designs.  Some you may be able to see right out, some are personal.

On this ship, Gilbert was my Grandmothers maiden name, and my Fathers middle name.

And the Number 8761 was the Last 4 Numbers of my Phone number when I lived in my first place with my (now Ex) Wife.

Neat huh?

I like the personal touch to the names and numbers. I have a shuttle that I am working on, and the number was my mother's birthday.

I do the same thing myself with names, birthdays, etc.  It's always nice to pay tribute to something you feel strongly about.

Deflectors.  Well if I wasn't sneaky the answer would be that I have to recut them since the leading edge rebuild.  However I am sneaky and the true answer is they we're never really there (i.e. in the saucer).  I simply made some circles and strategically located them so they showed up on the orthographic render

I did that because there was no reason to model them into the saucer edge if you wanted them elsewhere.

I was hoping to have something to show at this point but I had to rebuild the saucer edge once more.  I had some overlapping faces and it was simply easier to re-lathe everything.  I did manage to make the forward photorp cutout.  So work progresses...

Here is another dumb question.  Do you have the ability to cut down the Model into pieces after it is all done.  Meaning that way I could have the Engine pylons on one picture, so I can print it out in scale, and use it as a template to make the actual piece?

It would be something you would probably send to me then display here, that way if I were to make a conversion kit, it would be a master.  Know what I mean?

I was looking at my 1/2500 refit, and thought that later I will make it into the Gilbert. Just for fun. But I will have to wait, with Tholian. I am enjoying see this ship come to life.

Any thought of designing a patch for this class. It would look good on a display stand.

I do, and it's actually already in pieces.  That's how I can render just the saucer or what-not.  The breakdown is not necessarily modeler friendly but once complete I can make a copy and chop it up as needed.

Planetary sensor thingie has been completely rebuild.  Mapping of the underside is mostly complete and I've cut a few more of the minor gridlines with just a few more to go.

I'm going to move the "Gilbert" signage closer to the dome.  It's technically in the right position but with the hangar doors where they are there is not enough room got ships that might have a longer name.

Collision course!  And some rim mapping, and all new torpedo lauchers.

Wouldn't be where we are today without a groovy design.  Any one up for a full set of orthos showing where we are with everything?  Perhaps a quick animation?

But what about the deflectors?  Won't they crash?
